A dataset represents the data coming from a simulation (DEM, CFD, FEM, ...) or the data of a coarse-graining analysis generated by the . Each dataset is represented as a rectangle containing the name and type of dataset (see ).

Name (required): if no name is provided, the file name will be used as the dataset name.
Description (optional): users can provide a description for the dataset.
Scenario: users can associate the dataset with a scenario that already exists within the project .
Type: specifies the format of the dataset to be imported .
File: the icon located at the right side opens a file browser window that allows users to select the file to import the dataset.
Options: Reaction Torque & Force: this is only applicable for dataset type EDEM 2017+. If this options is checked, when importing the dataset, two graphs are created per geometry present in the EDEM 2017+ simulation:
Reaction force: temporal evolution of the total reaction force on the geometry in each of the main directions X, Y and Z.
Reaction torque: temporal evolution of the total reaction force on the geometry in each of the main directions X, Y and Z.

Once a dataset has been imported, users can edit the name of the dataset by clicking on the Edit
button next to the dataset.
If a dataset is no longer required, it can be deleted by clicking the Delete
button next to the dataset.
Users can import datasets by clicking on the Import
button located at the right corner of "Datasets" accordion and selecting the type of dataset to be imported (see ). A pop-up window will be shown in order enter values for the following fields for the dataset:
Users can visualise a dataset by clicking on the Load
button that appears when users are hovering over the rectangle of the corresponding dataset (see ). This action will load the dataset into page of Iota.
